Well, if you're reading this, I guess I did something right!
Happy New Year and best wishes for a bright, happy, prosperous 2010.
Since The Old Crow has flown the coop and The Witch is off on her broom somewhere, that leaves me, The Angel, to fill you in on the happenings in our little part of the world.
For years we've done local shows, sold our creations to other shops and put the dream of running our own shop on hold. Well, last March we decided what the heck, what were we waiting for anyway? While The Witch was house hunting we discovered the little downtown area of Lake Orion, MI and fell in love with the store fronts lining the street. With a whispered prayer and a huge leap of faith the call was made to inquire about the rent on a tiny little space tucked back into a brick front. Just 24 hours later, the lease was in hand, the keys handed over and we were on our way to creating our own Primitive treasure shop. Dad, affectionately called The Old Buzzard, wanted to know if I'd lost my mind. Ya know, to take a risk like that in this economy all I could do was look him in the eye and say "Yep".
Since The Old Crow lives up north and The Witch still has a little witch in training at home it was decided that I would take responsibility for running the shop, while continuing to work part time and the other two would help out when they could. We even got The Old Buzzard to start creating his prim shelves and benches again. All three of us continue to stock our shop with our handmades and you can find us here together during special events. I am blessed to have my in laws run the shop one day a week, we call my mother in law the "Picker" for her knack in finding great vintage stuff and my father in law is now an accomplished dumpster diver.
Our Fall and Christmas season was a huge success and for that, we are grateful. It's almost time to re-new that lease, and I think we're ready. So, with a lot of hope, a little bit of crazy, and the continued faith and support of co-workers and family, bring it on.
